NLCS magic

There’s been so much excitement that i haven’t blogged in a while!  Today will be game 3 of the nlcs Phillies against the Giants at at&t park.  I surely think the Giants will take this game against Hamels. They had a great division series vs Atlanta, it was bittersweet at the end because it was Bobby Cox’ final game as a manager.  Even though game two of both the nlds & nlcs were torture for us Giants fans, i honestly believe we’ll make the world series, a Giants & Rangers world series would be so ideal! I’d love that since i get tired of it being the east coast every year and seeing those fans freezing to death. Though it can be pretty cold in SF at night! Today the Giants will have Cain on the mound, he struggled during game 2 of the nlds but i have a feeling he can come back and surprise those Philly hitters. Depending on what happens today they either will have Bumgarner or Lincecum tomorrow.
I think the Rangers can beat the Yankees, they seem to be a lot more tough toward the end of the series like with Tampa Bay, they won on the final game. Tonight CJ Wilson will face AJ Burnett. I think they can take that, hopefully there won’t be what happened in game 1 where CJ left the game because of too many pitches, and the bullpen blew it for him. We’ll see! Luckly i can watch both games today! ;)

GIANTS WIN THE WEST!

You can see how excited i am this torture like weekend has come to a happy end! The Giants struggled in the first two games against the 2nd place Padres.  They needs just needed one more win and finally got the job done on the 162nd game of the season.  I wish i could afford to go to the playoff games but i sure will be in the den watching every minute! I think we can beat the Braves since we’ve got the home field advantage.
Today i woke up super early so i could run my 5k race, i still am not sure of what my results are.  Anyway so i came home & waited patiently (not really).. for the Giants game to come on. When Johnathon Sanchez hit that triple in the 3rd i had a strong feeling this game would end on a happy note. In the 8th inning Buster Posey hit a solo home run 3-0. He is totally the NL rookie of the year! Romo & Wilson finished up the game in style and Wilson tied the all time saves record set by Rob Nenn.
I am listening to knbr right now and the celebration never ends!  :D

Down to 6 games..

Most of the mlb teams have 6 or 7 games remaining this season.  The Giants remain 1/2 game above San Diego, Its like a roller coaster.. This should be an interesting home series for the Giants & have the Padres coming in this weekend.  Hopefully they’ll be pulled away from them and have clinched but its going to be close.  I have a feeling they will make it either the west division title or wild card winners.. This week they’ll have the D’backs in town, last time they came in they lost 2/3, which was embarrassing like that Milwaukee series. Madison Bumgarner needs a win at At&t park, he still has not won a decision at home.  Tomorrow they’ll have Sanchez who’s also been hot, right now Matt Cain has been the hottest on the staff. He almost no hit the Rockies yesterday, it was broken after 7 1/3 innings, it is the 2nd time he’s had a no-no broken up in the 8th inning. He is the kind of guy that can throw a no-no..  one day he’ll finally get one.  Tim Lincecum was back to his old self on Friday, he’s been having a rough season.  The scouts that said his greatness was behind him, they’re wrong, i can remember Greg Maddux & Randy Johnson having bad years.  I think he can win another Cy or two in  his future,
This year is probably going to be Adam Wainwright , thats my guess.. I would say Jimenez but he’s had some bad starts lately & his era has gone up a bit. It’ll be close like last year i think.  As for the american league it’s gonna go to Sabathia. I cannot wait til the awards are announced but we still have the playoffs to get through, i hope it isn’t the Yankees winning again! ;(

Final Road Trip

It’s hard to believe that the Giants are already on their final road trip of the 2010 season.  This year has already been way to fast.  Anyway Chicago will probably be an easy series for them to win a few games, hopefully it won’t be like the last series with the Brewers at home.  I thought Saturday’s game was ridiculous!  Bochy shouldn’t have taken Timmy out after 5 innings, i would have just let Lincecum bat instead of Schierholtz, i think maybe he (Lincecum) would’ve gotten a hit but the Giants were struggling to score runs so Bochy thought that was a smart move. Not so much for us Giant fans who thought timmy was pitching okay but not his best.
With the Giants in Chicago they’ll have two very hot pitchers going into the series, Cain today & then Sanchez tomorrow. At the moment there is a rain delay which might last for hours. I doubt the Giants will want to play a double header tomorrow.  The weekend series will be in Colorado, which the Rockies have been hot lately its hard to tell how that series will turn out.
Speaking of Chicago, i hope that Tyler Colvin makes a full recovery after the freak accident with the broken maple bat that occurred Sunday.  He had to be taken in for a punctured chest & needed an air tube to prevent a collapsed lung.   Anyway i’ll try and write again during this last road trip.  Hopefully the game gets played tonight, though they are in hurricane territory. ;(

At&t Park fun!

Last night, i went to the Dodgers/Giants game at At&t Park,  i haven’t been
to that matchup in a couple years!  I love going to the games, the only
thing i really want to do is go out to at&t park every night.  i
sure wish i had the luxury, and lived closer.  Anyway i only have been
to 5 games this year, luckly the Giants won 4 out of the 5 ;) In the
past i haven’t had much luck with them winning when i’m there.  Anyhow
last nights game was great except no one scored runs till the 6th inning
but it was a great pitching match up with Cain vs Billingsley.

The Giants won 2-1, Cain never allowed a Dodger past 2nd, the only run
they had was in the 9th by Ethier off of Wilson, i had thought torture
was about to start, luckly he struck the last guy out.  Buster Posey
also did well not only with hitting but behind the plate, maybe this is
why Cain has shown a lot of improvement. I seriously think Buster will
win rookie of the year, he had an awesome month of July & was rookie
of the week & the month.  I know he came in a little late in the
year but he really has helped the Giants offensively since May.
Cain has had major improvement this year, i don’t know what he’s done
but it has worked well for him.  I thought Zito was going to have a good
year since having a hot start, but saddenly has lost his last nine
starts, some have been no decisions. Tim Lincecum had been struggling
this year too but his last 2 or 3 starts he seems to be his old Cy Young
self again.
Hopefully the Giants win it tonight & take 2/3 from LA! My throat
still hurts last night from shouting “BEAT LA BEAT LA” Im wondering if
anyone watching tv heard me. ;) anyway gotta go & LETS GO GIANTS!

First place in NL WEST!

The Giants have tied the Padres for first place in the nl west, hopefully another win today will place them one game ahead of San Diego.  They had a rough month of August and so far have \had a great month of September going 7-2 so far.  Tim Lincecum has greatly improved in his last two games, the pitching staff right now is pretty tough except Barry Zito has been struggling for a while even having a great start in the spring. The bullpen, especially Brian Wilson have has been the all star he’s meant to be.  I think his new beard gives him good luck, though most of us women don’t think its a good look on him. The Giants offense is also a big key, though they only scored one run last night, they could have had more but some of the calls were wrong. Madison Bumgarner goes out today for SF, the last time he faced them he had a ND & the Giants won in 11 innings. It will be interesting to see how the Giants play for the next three weeks, hopefully the Padres continue to struggle the Giants will have a much higher chance in making the playoffs by winning the NL west. Im gonna close now and hopefully remember to blog after the Padres series this weekend! GO GIANTS!!
I am very excited about going to Wednesday’s game against LA! Hope to see you there ;)

September already?!?

It’s hard to believe my last blog was over a month ago! A lot has happened in the month of August! The Giants have had an up & down month also Lincecum & Zito had been struggling.  Up until last night Timmy pitched a gem against Jimenez and the Rockies, going 8 innings, gave up 1 run and 9K’s I don’t know what had been wrong with him this past month but hopefully he’ll have the same stuff through the end & maybe the playoffs.  The Giants are probably going to make the playoffs, a lot of people didn’t think they would but with San Diego struggling and the Giants have improvement with their offense they can possibly win the division if not the wild card.
This upcoming road trip can be tough on them however.  They go to LA this weekend (who are struggling so they should at least win 2 out of 3 or even better sweep them again! But i dont want to be jinxing anything! ;) The Giants sure made two smart moves by bringing up Posey from AAA and acquiring Pat Burrell from waivers.  They’ve sure improved our offense in the past three months.  However the pitching had been a little rusty though Bumgarner, Cain & Sanchez had been hot lately but have earned ND. I think Andres Torres will be come back player of the year, he has been fantastic for the Giants, offensively & defensively. He’s sure come a long way after being in the minors for several years & a lot of injuries. I don’t want to make this long, i am right now watching Yankees beat the A’s actually a 4 game sweep! Which is good because i cannot stand the Angels being below chokeland.   I think they took 2/3 from Seattle and are heading to Oakland this weekend, hopefully its a good series even though the Angels probably won’t make it this year. ;( next time! hopefully sooner than a month!

Can we sweep LA!?

I sure hope so! I know it is a bit jinx-y to mention that before the 3rd game, but i still think we can get em tomorrow night for the sweep & the Giants have Cain on the mound, his last start was a little rusty but i think he can handle them tomorrow.  They deserve it because the Dodgers swept us last month at AT&T Park. Anyway Zito pitched okay today, but a lot better than his last few starts.  Too bad he didn’t get the W.  The Giants were behind 1-0 til the 8th inning when Buster Posey walked then Burrell smacked a 2 run hr off Broxton, who’s supposedly their superstar closer. Not this time! The last two games have been raging sellouts, i just love how everyone comes out to the ball park when the Dodgers are in town, being all worked up & etc.  Friday, Tim Lincecum was back into his CY Young form, he was really whipping past those Dodger hitters, except he gave up a homerun to Either. But it was a much better start than last week and got a ND ( thats the game that the Giants came back from behind in the 9th inning, best game all year!)
Today was the trade deadline so the Giants dumped Joe Martinez & John Bowker, i liked both those guys! ;( Bowker was really tearing it up in AAA, i had thought they’d be bringing him up. So they both went to Pittsburgh for Javier Lopez a LH relief pitcher. I don’t think i’ve heard of him, well i was thinking of the old Braves catcher but obviously hes long since retired! Anyhow im gonna close now & looking forward to tomorrows game on ESPN! We haven’t been on espn all year, plus i wont have to mute the tv since Jon Miller does the broadcasting. Next time! GO GIANTS & BEAT L.A.!!

Induction Day!

Congrats to Jon Miller joining other historical broadcasters in the Ford C. Frick award in Cooperstown! I have been to Cooperstown, i think it was in 2007, i wish to have spent a longer time there i felt rushed because we had 3 or 4 hours, but i did get to see everything including the Ford Frick section.  It was a wall of broadcasters including Vin Scully, Jack Buck, Harry Carey and among many others. I grew up listening to mostly Vin Scully, since im from L.A. but enjoyed sunday night baseball so i can listen to Jon Miller & Joe Morgan.
The Giants have been incredibly hot since the all star break! I went to the game on July 15th at at&t park & saw Tim Lincecum pitch his first CG shutout of the season.  However his next start in L.A. was a bit rocky.  I don’t think people should worry a lot when he has a bad outing, a lot of Cy Young winners have had bad days including Greg Maddux, Randy Johnson etc. Anyhow the offense has really exploded since the promotion of Buster Posey who now has a 17 game hitting streak.  The rookie record of hitting streaks is 22 by Willie McCovey who won rookie of the year in ’59.  I have no doubt that Posey will win it this year, he deserves it more than anyone. Though he has to compete with Strasberg & Jason Heyward, but they seemed to have been out of the spotlight lately. Anyhow today i have a lot of baseball watching first Giants/Dbacks then Cubs/Cards & i sure hope the Cubs don’t sweep :( I’ll be watching that tonight on espn. ;) Next time! xoxo

Mid-Summer Classic, Steinbrenner & Bustermania

Hello baseball fans! I was thrilled to see the NL finally win the all-star game last night! The ASG is my favorite game of the year but i was getting tired of the AL winning the last 13..14 years O_o I kind of remember 1996 when the NL last won, i think they were in Philly & Mike Piazza was the MVP and I was only 12 at the time.  I was upset that some of the All Stars didn’t get to play, i guess its smart to think they would go into extra innings.  I do wish Tim Lincecum pitched a few innings, though i am happy they put in Brian Wilson but i wish he got the save & not Broxton.  Its weird tho because Broxton was giving me a heart attack like Wilson usually does. O_o
Yesterday the Yankees lost another legend (Bob Sheppard on Sunday at age 99) George Steinbrenner “the boss” passed away at 80 of a sudden heart attack. I am not a Yankees fan but its sad to see anyone die, especially that he was the heart & soul of the Yankees for over 30 years. I am glad he has two of his sons to take over the Yankees & the Steinbrenner name.  My favorite thing about Steinbrenner was his character on Seinfeld. :)
Buster Posey Is really tearing it up for the Giants! I sure hope he is rookie of the year, i dont remember the last time the Giants had a ROY.  I hope he is playing tomorrow night, he’ll probably play first base since Lincecum likes Whiteside to be his catcher. Alot of people were worried about Buster & were wrong about him, especially my fantasy baseball league, who’s laughing now?? He was really hot during the long road trip last week in , Colorado , Milwaukee & Washington DC. It was sad seeing Bengie Molina go but he really was struggling and Buster very much wanted to be the starting catcher, but it has worked out so far, hopefully they can move up in the standings in the next 3 months!  I haven’t been to a game in two months so im like super excited & especially with Timmy on the mound! Anyway i don’t have much left to say, until next time… :)
